About SafeStep Reviews

SafeStep Reviews is written by Hannah Whitfield, Occupational Therapist (HCPC registered). 14 years assessing falls risk in UK homes. Every handle on this page was fitted, loaded and pulled off a real bathroom wall.
How we test
Every handle is fitted to four surfaces found in ordinary UK bathrooms: gloss ceramic tile, a glass shower screen, a plastic bath panel and a part-textured tile. Each is loaded by hand with a hard straight pull and a rocking motion, then left in place and re-checked daily for a week to see whether the seal creeps. We also time the fitting and note whether the vacuum indicator is readable without glasses.
How we rank

- Fitting reliability and surface tolerance — 25%
- Everyday usability for older hands and eyes — 20%

How we make money
We earn commission when readers buy through links on this site, including the Amazon Associates programme and the affiliate programme of our top-ranked product. Commission never changes a score. Prices and ratings shown are collected from retailer pages and dated.
Not medical advice
Nothing here replaces an assessment by a qualified occupational therapist or physiotherapist. If someone needs to take full body weight through their arms, ask for a professional assessment and a permanently fixed rail.
